Dutkiewicz transitioned to become the band’s drummer, allowing Joel Stroetzel, another Aftershock alumnus, to step in as the guitarist. For the role of lead vocalist, they chose Jesse Leach from Nothing Stays Gold. In 1999, the band embarked on their musical journey, culminating in the release of their self-titled debut album the following year.
